COCO - fruto de palmeiras da família das palmáceas, sendo o coqueiro mais comum. No Brasil, seu fruto é conhecido como coco-da-baía, que écomestivel e tem grande importância na economia de vários países tropicais. Supõe-se que a sua origem seja o arquipélago Malaio, chegando depois à América. Quase toda a produção brasileira vem de coqueiros nativos, que fazem parte da paisagem do litoral nordestino. O fruto do coqueiro tem papel fundamental na alimentação dos habitantes das terras onde cresce. A água-de-coco, líquido claro e leitoso, que fica no interior da amêndoa, é uma bebida agradável e refrescante. Os cocos maduros medem, em média, cerca de 15 cm de diâmetro e 30 cm de comprimento.

In Brazil, its fruit is known as “coco-da-baía~, which is edible and has a great importance in the economy of several tropical countries. Almost all the Brazilian production is from native palms, which have already become part of the northeastern coastal landscape. Wherever coconuts grow, they play a fundamental role in the feeding habits of local inhabitants. Coconut milk, a clear milky liquid which is the nut, is a nice and refreshing beverage. Ripe coconuts are around 15 centimeters in diameter and 30 centimeters in length.
