FESTIVAL DO FOLCLORE

Com o intuito de unir os povos por meio do folclore e suas manifestações como a música e a dança a fim de atingir um bem comum que é a PAZ, o V Festival Internacional de Folclore do Brasil realizar-se-á no período de9a22 de agosto de 1991, com o apoio das Prefeituras de Cubatão, Guarujá, Praia Grande, Santos e São Vicente. 

Com desfiles de rua, missa folclórica, "shows" em praças públicas e em teatros, o evento tem no projeto-escola o seu maior momento, oportunidade em que o tema folclore será trabalhado junto aos alunos, que assistirão aos espetáculos e participarão das atividades programadas para o período. 

Além disso, existe um trabalho que o Festival tem desenvolvido durante estes anos, que é o de natureza beneficente, uma vez que parte da renda do evento é destinada a entidades com fins filantrópicos. 

Tendo reunido em Festivais anteriores diversos grupos folclóricos da Argentina, Bulgária, Bolívia, Espanha, França e Paraguai, o evento tem proporcionado intercâmbio cultural com os países que já nos visitaram, com a ida de grupos folclóricos ao exterior, representando o Brasil em diversos festivais da América e da Europa.

100 ANOS DO NASCIMENTO DE LEONARDO MOTA

Nasceu a 10 de maio de 1891, em Pedra Branca, Ceará, e morreu em 2 de janeiro de 1948. Formou-se em Direito, em Fortareza, em 1916. Foi Professor, Advogado, Promotor de Justiça, Secretário de Governo, Tabelião, Jornalista e Historiador. Mas a sua grande paixão, à qual se dedicou totalmente, sem medir sacrifícios, foi o folclore. 

Transcrevemos, a seguir, conceito do mestre Luís da Câmara Cascudo sobre Leonardo Mota - trecho do prefácio à 3' edição de "Cantadores". 

"Em qualquer parte do 'Brasil onde estivesse ressuscitava o Nordeste como nenhum escritor poderia fazer ou outro artista tentar. Não era o Embaixador, mas a própria Terra com a gente palpitante..

 "São essas vozes e essa gente que manterão Leonardo Mota contemporâneo e vivo no espírito do povo brasileiro, na legitimidade verídica de sua cultura." 

Festival of Folklore

Aiming at uniting the people through the folklore and its manifestations, such as the music and the dance, in order to reach a common welfare that is PEACE, the 5th International Festival of Folklore in Brazil will be held from Aug. 09 to Aug. 22, 1991, with the support of the City Halls of Cubatão, Guarujá, Praia Grande, Santos and São Vicente. 

With street parades, folkloric mass, shows in public squares and in theatres, the event has got in the school project its greatest moment. On this occasion the folklore is worked near the students who attend the shows and take part in the activities scheduled for the period. 

Besides, there is a work that the Festival has been developing through these years which has a benefit nature, since part of the income from the event is destined to entities with philanthropic purposes. 

The event has brough the opportunity of gathering in previous Festivals several folkloric groups from Argentina, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Spain, France and Paraguay and this fact has been providing a cultural interchange with those countries which have already visited us through the going of folkloric groups to other countries representing Brazil in many festivals in America and Europe.

100th ANNIVERSARY OF LEONARDO MOTA

Leonardo Mota was born on May 10, 1891, in the city of Pedra Branca, state of Ceará and died on January 2, 1948. He graduated in Law, in the city of Fortaleza (Ceará) in 1916. He was professor, lawyer, court prosecutor, Government Secretary, notary public, journalist and historian. But his great passion -to which he dedicated himself completely, without weighing efforts - was the folklore. 

We copy hereunder the opinion of the Literature Master Luís da Câmara Cascudo about Leonardo Mota - passage to the foreword to the 3rd edition of "Cantadores". 

"Wherever he could be in Brazil, he would revive the Northeast as no other writer could do or other artist try to. He was not the Ambassador, but the World itself with the quivering people.. 

"These voices and these people are the ones who will keep Leonardo Mota contemporary and alive in the spirit of the Brazilian people, in the truthful legitimacy of its culture".
