MAÇÃ - fruto da macieira, de origem européia e asiática, amplamente cultivada devido ao seu sabor e valor nutritivo. As formas cultivadas são de uma espécie da família das rosáceas. Hoje, existem centenas de variedades de maçãs, agrupadas conforme o sabor, a forma ou a cor. Frutos de polpa suculenta e cosmetivel, seu sabor é variável, podendo ser ácidas, doces, suculentas ou farinhosas. De grande valor nutritivo, são ricas em vitaminas B e C, em açúcares e pectinas, que têm grande poder de absorção. Os frutos são consumidos crus, em compotas e doces, geléias e vinhos. No Brasil, a maçã é cultivada principalmente nos estados do sul.
