MAMÃO - De provável origem brasileira, o mamão é fruto de uma planta de crescimento rápido, que alcança de 3 a 6 metros de altura. O peso do mamão varia de 1 a 10 quilos. E produzido com sucesso em regiões de clima quente e úmido, que sua planta não tolera geadas. Possui polpa doce, alaranjada, suculenta e aromática. O fruto verde é excelente legume, cozido ou guisado, e ingrediente bastante utilizado em doces em calda e cristalizados. O mamão é também muito consumido ao natural quando maduro, que é rico em vitaminas.

PAPAYA - It is the fruit of a fast growing tree, which may have Brazilian origin. Its tree reaches 3 to 6 meter high, and the fruit’s weight varies from 1 to 10 Kg. It must be grown in regions of warm and humid weather, since it is not resistant to frost. Its pulp is sweet, orange, tasteful and aromatic. The green fruit is an excellent legume. Either boiled or cooked, it is a largely used ingredient in preserves and crystallized sweets. The ripe fruit is eaten fresh, since it is rich in papain, a digestive enzyme. Besides, it is also rich in vitamins.
