PITANGA

Fruto da pitangueira, que se apresenta em forma de arbusto ou de pequena árvore, quando cultivado, tem as folhas pequenas, verde-lustrosas e aromáticas. As flores também são pequenas e alvas e o fruto, a pitanga, apresenta-se em forma de bagas, achatadas nos dois pólos e divididas em gomos salientes. A fruta corresponde a uma única semente, redondo-achatada, coberta por uma pele fina e uma coloração vermelho-lustrosa, quando madura.

 A pitanga é uma fruta muito apreciada e digerida crua, pois sua polpa é agridoce e aromática. Com a pitanga se produz também geléias, vinhos e licores.

 A pitanga é uma fruta originária do Brasil.

 

“PITANGA”

  

Fruit that grows on a bush or small tree, the “pitangueira”, when cultivated has small, brilliant green and aromatic leaves. The flowers are also small and whitish and the fruit, the “pitanga” grows in form of beans, flattened in the two extremities and divided in prominent buds, having a flat and rounded seed, covered by a thin skin that is skinny red when ripe.

 The “pitanga” is a very appreciated fruit and is eaten raw as it has a sweet-and-sour and aromatic pulp. With the “pitanga” we can make marmalades, wines and liqueurs.

 

The “pitanga” is a native fruit of Brazil.
